1. Clogged vent
The basic way dryers work to remove moisture is by heating the air, causing the water in the clothes to evaporate, and then this moist air is expelled through the vent.
However, over time, these vents can become clogged with dust, debris, and clothing lint. If they become severely clogged, it can prevent moist air from escaping from the dryer.
This means that when you check your clothes after washing, they are still damp, making it appear as if the dryer didn't heat up at all.
Therefore, we need to unblock the vent so that the LG electric dryer can exhaust the hot air properly.
2. Lint filter clogged
Another key component in this process is the lint filter. The purpose of the filter is to collect lint that is naturally pulled out of clothes during the wash cycle and prevent it from accumulating in other, more important places.
The lint filter needs to be cleaned periodically to ensure it can catch all fabric debris.
Don't worry, the process is quick and easy, and LG has made the lint filter readily available because it understands that you'll need to do this quite often.
3. Dryer overloaded
We're sure you want to dry as many clothes as possible at once, but when you load too many clothes into the dryer at once, it can cause problems with the drying process.
This happens because there is no room for air to circulate around the clothes, leaving most of them cold and damp by the end of the cycle.
To avoid this, you may need to remove some of the clothes from your LG electric dryer and run a second cycle. Remember that it is always better to run two drying cycles than one large one.
4. Thermal fuse has blown
The thermal fuse is a safety component that controls the internal temperature of the dryer while it is operating.
If the temperature exceeds a certain limit, it will burn out and immediately prevent the dryer from heating up.
This protects your home from fire and components from damage due to overheating.
Once the thermal fuse has blown, it must be replaced as these are disposable components.
5. Heating element burnt out
The heating element is the part of the clothes dryer that physically produces heat to dry clothes. It is essentially a metal coil that has an electric current running through it, which in turn makes it very hot.
Needless to say, such a part can burn out and cause a short circuit. Once this happens, it will no longer be able to produce heat and will need to be replaced.
